Lark’s head knot

The most famous mounting knot in the world

Lark’s head is the most common mounting knot. Mounting knots are mostly used to start macrame works and mount cords onto dowels etc supports. That said, lark’s head knot can also be used in the middle of your work if you need to add more cord to your work (for example to make different 3D shapes or add fringe).

Lark’s head knot in tutorials is often abbreviated as LH.

Step by step knotting instructions

Fold your practice cord in half and place the loop over the filler cord or dowel.

Bring the loop down around the back of the dowel.

Pull the two cord ends through the loop
