Two sides of the same knot, curvy and straight
This lovely knot has two very distinct sides, one with curves and diagonal lines and another side that looks like a ladder. Could this knot be called the ladder knot instead, for a better descriptive name? And if I'm being fully transparent, I'm not sure if this is the correct name for this knot. Do let me know in the community or in the comments if you know this knot by a different name please.
This knot sennit works very well in plant hangers where the work needs to support a weight, like a plant pot, because the two middle cords remain straight inside the knot. Only the two outer cords are knotted.
Step by step instructions:
You'll need four cords for this knot. Two cords in the middle should be shorter (filler cords) and two outer cords should be longer (working cords). Number cords from 1 to 4 from left to right.
- Fold cord number 1 on itself into a little loop and place it in front of the two filler cords (2 &3) in the middle.
- Bring cord number 4 over the loop (and the filler cords).
- Then take cord 4 to the back of your work, behind the filler cords and pull it through the loop you created with cord number 1.
- Tighten your knot carefully, so that cord 1 doesn't get pulled too much to the back.
Repeat the knot as many times as you'd like.
