Clove hitch from the back side
The reversed clove hitch knot is nothing else but the regular clove hitch seen from the back. Sound simple right? Well even after making this knot a few times, I keep stumbling at the start of each knot. And that's only because I have made too many clove hitches in my life, so making them backwards seems un-natural. Let's see what you think!
Step by step
The below step-by-step instructions are to make a reversed clove hitch towards left. In the video you have a demonstration for both left and right.
- To make a reversed clove hitch start by bringing your working cord above your filler cord. This is the one big difference between the reversed and the normal clove hitch.
- Make your first reversed half hitch by bringing the working cord to the back of the filler and back up and to the front, on the left side of itself.
- Then, on the right side of the first half hitch, make another half hitch: Working cord goes above the filler, below the filler and back up and to the front, on the right side of your working cord through the loop you just created.
- Lower the cord down and tighten the knot.
- On top of the knot you will see a diagonal line going from top left to bottom right.
The good news?
The good news is, in case making the reversed clove hitch seems too difficult, that you can simply flip your work and knot these reversed clove hitches from the back as normal clove hitches. When you flip your work back to the right side, you'll see reversed clove hitches in the front!
